In the early 1990s, he was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. With a new appreciation for life, Barry started a public speaking company giving motivational and leadership presentations for businesses, from startups to Fortune 500 companies. He has been a stout advocate for the disability community, working on various government committees and programs over the years such as the Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment, the Secretary of State’s Disability Voting Advisory Board, and many others. In 2016, Barry earned his Realtor license spearheading a project to add accessibility criteria to the real estate buying and selling process. He accomplished this in the state of Washington and is now taking the initiative nationally. Barry lives just Northeast of Seattle with his wife, their twins, and trusty pup, Juneau. They are avid Seattle sports and music fans. Go Hawks!
